DURHAM – The Duke women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-11 decision to No. 19 Clemson Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
Duke was once again led by Katie DeSimone with five goals as eight different Blue Devils tallied points. Defensively, Margaret Anne Warner led the team with three caused turnovers and collected two ground balls. In cage for Duke, Kennedy Everson made six stops while Courtney Kaufman saved five.
How it Happened
- Duke held a 3-2 lead after the first 15 minutes of play as Olivia Carner, Maddie McCorkle and DeSimone found the back of the cage.
- Clemson scored with four minutes remaining in the period, a goal that would spark a 7-0 run into the second quarter.
- Trailing 8-3 with five minutes remaining, Duke outscored Clemson, 4-3, to bring the halftime score to 11-7 in favor of the Tigers.
- Clemson tacked on five more goals in the third period (16-9) and closed out the game on a 5-2 run.
- The Blue Devils struggled to gain possession of the ball for a majority of the contest and lost the draw control battle, 24-11.
- Clemson outshot Duke, 40-22, and put 31 shots on cage. Both teams were nearly flawless on clears as Duke was 16-of-17.

- Duke moves to 2-3 this spring and 0-1 in the ACC.
- The all-time series moves to 0-2.
- Duke is now 0-3 this spring against ranked opponents.
- DeSimone has been Duke's leading scorer in all of its five games this spring. She now owns 219 career points to rank seventh in program history.
- DeSimone tallied her 27th-career hat trick and her 29th game with four-or-more points.
- Madison Beale forced two turnovers and grabbed a ground ball.
- Lexi Schmalz led the team in draw controls with four as Duke was without its FOGO Ellie White.
- Clemson was led by Claire Bockstie with four points from three goals and an assist. Emily Lamparter grabbed seven saves in the cage.
