SETTING THE SCENE
 • After a break for final exams, the Duke wrestling team (3-6) returns to action Sunday, Dec. 22 as the Blue Devils host VMI (4-5) inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The match will feature a first bout at 1 p.m.
 • Sunday's match will be the final of 2024 for the Blue Devils. Duke will return to action in 2025 at the Southern Scuffle on Jan. 4-5 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Â
 • Duke is riding a two-match winning streak with victories against Presbyterian (38-9) and Davidson (22-21).Â

THE SERIES
• Duke and VMI are set to meet for the 38th time in program history. The Keydets hold a 26-11 lead in the series. In matches played in Durham, Duke features a 3-10 record against VMI. The Blue Devils have won four out of the last six against VMI.
• Sunday's match will mark the first meeting in Durham since 2014 when the Blue Devils posted a 38-9 victory.Â

Connor Barket owns a 10-match winning streak heading into the weekend against VMI. During that stretch, he notched his first ranked win of his collegiate career with a 7-6 decision against No. 33 Jack Forbes of Utah Valley. Over his short career, he owns a 4-1 ledger in matches contested inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.Â

Gaetano Console picked up his first dual match win of the season with a 14-4 major decision victory against Marc Koch of Davidson in the last contest. He now owns 10 dual match wins over his career.

Aidan Wallace has won seven out of his last eight matches and currently is tied with
Connor Barket for the most wins on the season with 14. This is coming off winning only one match as a rookie.

Raymond Adams is riding a two-match winning streak with victories against Presbyterian and Davidson at the 133 weight.Â
• With a win on Sunday, Duke will feature a three-match winning streak, which is tied for the longest winning streak since the 2014-15 campaign. The Blue Devils have totaled five three-match win streaks since the 2014-15 season. It would be the longest streak since 2014-15 when Duke won five in a row.Â

• It came down to the final match of the night as sophomore
Aidan Wallace defeated Davidson's Bryce Griffin in a 4-0 decision to secure the victory for Duke wrestling over Davidson, 22-21, on Friday night in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
• Starting the night at 174 pounds, redshirt sophomore
Gaetano Console was quick to give the Blue Devils a 4-0 lead, after a strong 14-4 major decision over Davidson's Marc Koch.
• The Wildcats responded immediately with a tech fall in the 184-pound bout to pull ahead, 5-4.
• Back-to-back pins from freshman
Vincent Lee and redshirt sophomore
Connor Barket at 197 and heavyweight, respectively, allowed the Blue Devils to regain control and pull away with a 16-5 advantage.
• Davidson continued to fight back, chipping away at the gap after winning three of the following four matches to make it a two-point contest heading into the final match of the night.
• After a scoreless first period, Wallace used a takedown in the second period and an escape in the third to record a 4-0 decision over Griffin and claim the victory for the Blue Devils.

Riley Rowan made his Blue Devil debut against the Wildcats, entering the starting lineup at 125 pounds.
• Barket, ranked 32nd nationally, improved to 14-2 on the season and is riding a 10-match winning streak.
• Wallace has now won 11 out of his last 13 matches for the Blue Devils.

SP O'Donnell each picked up wins in their exhibition matches, competing at 197 and 149, respectively.

BARKET TABBED ACC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
• Redshirt sophomore heavyweight
Connor Barket was tabbed ACC Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 26 after securing victories against No. 9 Michigan, No. 23 Utah Valley, American and Presbyterian.
• Barket went 4-0 on the weekend to move to 13-2 overall on the season. He is now riding a nine-match winning streak heading into Friday's contest with Davidson.
• On the weekend, Barket opened with an 8-5 decision over Michigan's Ira Jenkins and then collected a 5-0 victory versus Emmanual Ulrich of American.
• Barket then posted the first ranked victory of his collegiate career as he collected a late escape and takedown to come-from-behind to defeat 33rd-ranked Jack Forbes of Utah Valley.Â
• With a fall at 4:08, Barket closed the weekend with a win over Presbyterian's Morvens Saint Jean.
• The honor for Barket is the second of his collegiate career as he received ACC Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 23 of last year.

• After failing to win a match as a rookie last year,
Peter Chacon has totaled a 7-8 ledger to open the season, including four straight wins at the Journeyman Classic in Bethlehem, Pa.

Aidan Wallace has opened the year with a tied for team-best 14 wins. He is 8-1 in dual match play at 165. Wallace has won seven out of his last eight contests.
