The First Hit
- Duke opens ACC Championship action Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., taking on host Wake Forest. The Blue Devils are the No. 2 seed with a 6-2 mark in ACC play, while the Demon Deacons are the No. 7 seed with a 2-6 record versus ACC foes.
- Duke is 7-1 in its last eight games with all seven victories being shutouts. The Blue Devils are 22-42 all-time in ACC Championship action and 7-5 as the No. 2 seed. This will be the 19th ACC Championship meeting between Duke and Wake Forest with the Blue Devils leading 11-7.
- Wake Forest enters postseason action with a 7-10 record and is averaging 1.71 goals per game on offense and giving up 1.76 goals per game. All five setbacks are against top 20 foes and five versus top 10 teams. Duke has allowed just 10 goals in live action and has 11 shutouts. Alaina McVeigh is the top threat offensively with 11 markers this season. Ten different Blue Devils have scored a goal.
- Defensively, Duke is allowing just 6.8 shots per game and 3.6 penalty corners per game. Duke is tied for the lead nationally with 11 shutouts this season. In goal, Frederique Wollaert leads the nation with 0.53 goals against average. The Blue Devils own a commanding 55-13 edge in shots, an 21-4 advantage in penalty corners and 8-0 lead in goals in the third quarter.

The DPC has blocked 31 shots and allowed just 16 on goal with 12 being stopped by Frederique Wollaert. On eight penalty corners, Duke's opponent was unable to even get a shot off.
Mighty McVeigh
- Junior Alaina McVeigh is back for her second full season on the turf for the Blue Devils. After missing her freshman season to injury, McVeigh had a breakout season in 2023 to earn the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Year award and First Team All-America honors.
- McVeigh hasn't missed a beat in season two on the turf with the Blue Devils. She has 11 goals this season and has at least a point in five of the past six games. McVeigh has three two-goal games this season and has scored in all but three games in which Duke has scored a goal. She has scored at least 20 points in both of her seasons and is one of 30 players in history to reach the 60-point marker.
Bravo Charlie
- Graduate student Charlie van Oirschot is on a hot streak with at least one point in five of the past six games, including registering a goal in four of those. Each of her four tallies were game winners and two were unassisted scores.
- van Oirschot has scored double-digit points in each of her three seasons as a Blue Devil and is two points away from tying her career high of 14 last season.
