OPENING SERVE
- The Duke volleyball team gears up for its final two games of the season, welcoming Wake Forest to Cameron Indoor Stadium Wednesday before hitting the road to face Miami Friday in the regular season finale. Both matches are set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
- Wednesday's matchup will serve as the Blue Devils' Give Thanks game. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items to donate to a local food bank to help serve the Durham community. Fans that bring five canned goods will receive one raffle ticket to be entered in a raffle to receive a Duke volleyball prize pack.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Blue Devils are coming off a pair of home losses to No. 7 Stanford (0-3) and Cal (1-3) in Cameron Indoor Stadium over the weekend.
- Outside hitter Taylor Williams led the offense with 25 total kills across the two matches, while setter Grace Penn tallied 56 assists to pace the Blue Devils. Freshman libero Mailinh Godschall logged 35 digs for the weekend.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
WAKE FOREST
- Duke leads the all-time series with Wake Forest, 62-19, including a 32-4 record at home. The two programs met earlier in the year with Duke earning a 3-1 road victory (25-23, 31-33, 25-19, 25-22) on Oct. 11. In the last meeting, the Blue Devils featured four players with double-doubles in Kerry Keefe (16 kills,14 digs), Grace Penn (43 assists, 17 digs), Rachel Richardson (11 kills, 10 digs) and Taylor Williams (16 kills, 11 digs). The hard-fought match featured a whopping 41 ties and 23 lead changes, including 21 ties in the second set.
MIAMI
- The Blue Devils and Hurricanes are set to face off for the 33rd time in program history, with the Blue Devils narrowly leading the all-time series 17-16. The two teams met earlier this season with Miami claiming the five-set victory, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11, in Durham on October 25.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
WAKE FOREST
- Wake Forest dropped a pair of home matches last week, falling to No. 1 Pitt (0-3) and No. 10 SMU (0-3) in Varsity Arena. The Demon Deacons moved to a 13-16 overall record and a 5-13 mark in ACC play. Wake Forest's offense features five players that have recorded 150-plus kills on the year in Paige Crawford (307), Sahara Maruska (232), Laila Ricks (179), Olivia Murphy (169) and Dior Charles (150). Heading into the final two regular season matches, Charles and Tina Grkovic rank in the top 10 of the conference standings in blocks per set, averaging 1.26 (5th) and 1.22 (7th), respectively. Emma Farrell also ranks in the top 10 in digs, totaling 3.98 per set for seventh best in the ACC.
MIAMI
- Miami currently sits 20-9 overall and 11-7 in conference play. The Hurricanes are coming off a shutout over Clemson (3-0) and a reverse sweep over Georgia Tech (3-2) over the weekend. Flormarie Heredia Colon and Ariana Rodriguez were tabbed ACC Offensive Player of the Week and ACC Setter of the Week, respectively, for their performances last weekend. Heredia Colon continues to lead the ACC in total kills (454) and total points (522.5), while ranking second in points per set (4.88) and in kills per set (4.24). Rodriguez currently ranks third in the ACC for total assists (935) and sixth in assists per set (8.66).
