CHARLOTTE, N.C. -Â Duke freshman guard/forward
Cooper Flagg has been named ACC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Nov. 18. Flagg averaged 17.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and 1.5 steals per contest for the Blue Devils across their two games.Â
In Duke's matchup in the Champions Classic against No. 19 Kentucky, Flagg posted a double-double, with game highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds, while also adding two assists and two blocked shots.
During the Blue Devils' 86-35 victory over Wofford, Flagg stuffed the stat sheet with eight points and team-highs of nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots.Â
Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 87 of a possible 188 weeks (46.3%). Twenty-six different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.Â
Flagg is the second Blue Devil to earn an ACC weekly award this season, joining his classmate
Kon Knueppel, who was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 11.
No. 12 Duke returns to action on Friday, Nov. 22, beginning its two-game West Coast trip with a visit to No. 17 Arizona. The 11th all-time meeting, and ninth consecutive top-25 clash, between the Blue Devils and Wildcats is the second of a home-and-home series that began with a 78-73 win by Arizona at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 10, 2023. The game will begin at 10:30 p.m., ET, and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
