Chacon, O’Donnell & Barket Go Undefeated at Journeymen Collegiate Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A trio of Duke wrestlers – Peter Chacon, SP O'Donnell and Connor Barket – went undefeated Sunday at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic to lead the Blue Devils at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pa.
Chacon, O'Donnell and Barket combined for 10 victories on the day for the Blue Devils.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Peter Chacon, wrestling at 149, went 4-0 on the day for the Blue Devils. He opened the morning with a tech fall against Jason Daleo of Sacred Heart (17-2, 2:38), before collecting a 12-5 decision over Cole Stone of Army. Chacon, competing in his home state of Pennsylvania, then received a forfeit victory over Pitt-Johnstown and collected an 8-4 decision over Macario Calavitta of Cornell to close the day.
Also competing at 149 pounds, SP O'Donnell went a perfect 3-0 on Sunday. He recorded an 8-0 major decision against Long Island's Jordan Barry in his first match. O'Donnell, a product of Glenmoore, Pa., then registered a tech fall versus Danny Delusant of Sacred Heart (16-1, 5:19) and then closed the day with a 2-0 decision against JT Hogan of Lock Haven.
Connor Barket continued his solid start to his redshirt sophomore season with three wins. He registered a major decision versus Danny Church of Hofstra, 18-6, to open the day. Barket, who hails from West Lafayette, Ind., then posted a tech fall victory over Aeden Begue of Long Island (19-4, 4:39) and closed with a major decision, 11-2, against Aiden Compton of Cornell.
One of three captains, Raymond Adams, finished with a 2-2 ledger on Sunday. He posted an 8-1 decision against Tyson Cook of Pitt-Johnstown and a tech fall (22-6, 5:56) versus Jake Carlucci of Sacred Heart at 133 pounds.
Freshman Eli Murray concluded his day with a 2-1 record after a 7-4 decision over Nick Demarco of Sacred Heart and pinned Matt Buck of Cal-Baptist just 1:25 into the match.
Duke sophomore Aidan Wallace finished with a strong 3-1 record on the day. He totaled three tech falls against Calvin Pineda of Sacred Heart (17-2, 2:33), Brett Barbush of Lock Haven (19-2, 5:26) and Ryan Vigil of VMI (16-1, 4:49).
Rookie VincentLee dropped his first match before bouncing back with a pair of wins to close the day. He defeated Denzel Perez of Penn with via tech fall (20-4, 3:23) and registered a 4-0 decision over Raines Coy of Buffalo to close out action.
WHAT IS NEXT
Duke continues dual action Saturday, Nov. 16 with matches at Hofstra at 11:30 a.m., and then versus Sacred Heart at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be held in Hempstead, N.Y., at David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
