DURHAM, N.C. – A trio of Duke men's soccer athletes were selected to TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 list. Junior
Kenan Hot (34), senior
Ruben Mesalles (70), and sophomore
Ulfur Bjornsson (86) all were recognized by the organization on Friday.
Hot, a 5-11 midfielder from Lincroft, N.J., has started all 12 matches this season, tallying 997 minutes of action. He has recorded one goal and generated 19 shots as one of Duke's quality defending midfielders this season. During his career with the Blue Devils, Hot has started 47 of the 49 games he has appeared in and registered 42 total shots over his three seasons.
Mesalles, a 6-0 defender from Sarasota, Fla., has also started all 12 matches for the Blue Devils this season, recording 997 minutes on the pitch. Mesalles has recorded one goal and two assists on the campaign, being recognized as the leader of Duke's backline play. A starter in 65 of the 68 career matches, Mesalles has tallied eight career goals and 16 assists, playing over 5,190 minutes as a Blue Devil.
Bjornsson, a 6-3 forward from Hafnarfjordur, Iceland, has appeared in all 12 matches in 2024, starting 11 of those contests. On Wednesday against Howard, Bjornsson collected his ninth and tenth goals of the season, equaling his goal production as a freshman. For his career, Bjornsson has started 27 of the 30 matches, scoring 20 goals and collecting six assists.
