DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving returns to Taishoff Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon, hosting Virginia Tech. Diving will begin at 1 p.m., while the swimming portion begins at 2 p.m.
General public parking for the meet will be located in the Blue Zone off Duke University Road starting at 11 a.m. Accessible Parking with a state-issued placard or plate will be located in the Card Lot at 320 Towerview Road.
NOTABLES
- Duke men's swimming and diving began the 2024-25 season strong, sweeping the 200 Medley Relay event against Marymount, as Michael Jiang, Jack Smith, Cameron Lai-Harris and Milo Shue locked a time of 1:31.30 and finished first.
- At Marymount, the graduate transfer of Yugo Tsukikawa made history. He collected his first victory with the Blue Devils in the 1,000 Freestyle, touching with a time of 9:44.27. As Duke swept the event, he was joined on the podium by Austin Simpson (9:53.61) and Owen Markowitz (9:57.86).
- On the women's side, sophomore Ali Pfaff enjoyed an impressive first season with the Blue Devils, breaking Duke's 100 and 200 Backstroke records. In the 100 Backstroke, Pfaff touched with a time of 51.65, passing Emma Shuppert who held the record since the 2020-21 season. In the 200 Backstroke, Pfaff tallied a time of 1:52.41, breaking the record held by Maddie Hess since 2018-19.
- Junior Kaelyn Gridley picked up where she left off during the 2023-24 season, securing the school record in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke. She posted a time of 58.74 in the 100 before touching with a time of 2:04.94 in the 200 Breaststroke. Gridley also earned first-team All-America honors in the 200 Breaststroke and 400 Medley Relay at NCAA's, adding a second-team All-America nod in the 200 Medley Relay. The Wilmette, Illinois, native was also selected to represent the United States, being named to the 2024-25 USA Swimming National team.
