Reigan Richardson was tapped a Preseason All-ACC selection and freshman
Toby Fournier earned a spot on the Newcomer Watch List, as the league unveiled its preseason honors ahead of the 2024-25 season. The conference made the announcement Tuesday evening following a vote by the league's head coaches and a panel of media.
The Blue Devils were also picked to finish third in the high-powered league, garnering 1,446 points. Notre Dame topped the list as the preseason favorite with 1,726 points and 70 first-place votes, NC State comes in second with 1,617 and eight, respectively. Louisville and Florida State round out the top five in the predicted order of finish.
Fournier received the most votes on the five-person watch list, leading the way with 222. She was joined by Imari Berry (Louisville), Kate Koval (Notre Dame), Zamereya Jones (NC State) and Liza Karlen (Notre Dame).
Richardson earned 202 votes to secure her spot on the preseason all-conference team. The senior is coming off a breakout junior campaign that saw her lead the team in scoring (12.4 ppg), garner All-ACC Second Team accolades and help lead the Blue Devils to the program's 18th Sweet 16. Richardson notched double figures 20 times and had seven outings with 20-plus points, including back-to-back games of 25 and 28, respectively, in NCAA Tournament wins over Richmond and Ohio State.
Duke, tapped No. 11 in the Associated Press (AP) preseason poll, officially tips off the 2024-25 season against Radford Monday, Nov. 4 in the Blue Devils' third annual Education Day game. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m., live on ACCNX.
