HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke and NC State traded buckets in the early minutes before the Blue Devils used a 7-0 spurt to open up a 13-6 lead heading into the first media timeout. Roberson broke the 6-6 tie with an up-and-under layup. Nelson sank a three from the left wing and Mair drove to the basket for the lay-in to make it a seven-point game with 4:50 remaining.
- Main sank her free throw coming out of the timeout to make it 14-6 and Nelson and Mair both added baskets to give Duke the 18-6 edge and force the Wolfpack into a first-quarter timeout.
- Duke's offense continued to roll in the closing minutes, hitting three of its final four shots of the stanza to take a 28-16 advantage into the quarter break. The Blue Devils shot 73 percent in the quarter and got 10 points from Nelson.
- The Blue Devils' shooting cooled to start the second quarter, but its defense stayed steady, as Duke stretched its lead to 16 heading into the media timeout. Fournier had six points in the first half of the second period, while Duke held the Wolfpack to just 1-of-8 shooting in that stretch.
- The trend continued in the final four minutes of the half as Duke headed into the locker room up, 41-26. The Blue Devils shot just 39 percent in the second stanza but held NC State to 27 percent from the floor.
- Duke was outstanding on the glass in the first 20 minutes, outrebounding the Wolfpack, 21-8.
- After NC State knocked down two free throws to start the third quarter, Duke went on an 11-4 run for its largest lead of the night, 52-32. Junior Delaney Thomas and Jackson had nine of the 11 points in the run.
- The Wolfpack answered by going on a 9-2 run to pull back within 13, 54-41. NC State went 5-for-5, while Duke was 0-of-4 with a turnover in that span.
- Duke's lead got down to six after NC State scored the first seven points out of the media timeout. Roberson ended the Blue Devils' four-minute scoring drought to make it an eight-point contest, 56-48, after three quarters of action.
- Jackson hit her mid-range jumper on the opening possession of the fourth to put Duke's lead back to double digits. Fournier and Roberson drilled back-to-back threes as the Blue Devils surged ahead, 68-53, and forced NC State into another timeout.
- The Blue Devils came out of the timeout and went on a 6–0 run, pushing their lead to 74-55. NC State tried to fight back, knocking down two jumpers and converting a free throw, but Duke answered with seven more points — five from Jackson — to seal the Blue Devils' 83-65 triumph over NC State.
- Khamil Pierre and Zoe Brooks led the Wolfpack offensively, scoring 24 and 21 points, respectively.
