The ACC/B1G Cup
- Maryland serves as the host for the ACC/B1G Cup as the Duke, Boston College and Northwestern travel to College Park. The Blue Devils and Terrapins open the action Friday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.

The First Hit
- Duke hits the road for the first time this season for the ACC/B1G Cup at Maryland. The Blue Devils take on No. 3 Maryland and No. 2 Northwestern - the first two of 13 scheduled games against current top 20 opponents.Â
- The Blue Devils are coming off a solid 3-2 victory over Indiana last Friday. Duke scored twice on penalty corners and got a goal from Alaina McVeigh in her Blue Devil debut to come away with the victory.
- Maryland emerged unscathed from its West Coast trip to play Stanford, California and UC Davis. The Terrapins defeated the Cardinal, 4-0, Cal and UC Davis, 6-0 4-1. Hope Rose led all scorers with five goals.
- Northwestern fell to ninth-ranked Louisville, 1-0, in its home opener. The Wildcats outshot the Cardinals, 21-3, including 10-1 on goal, and had an 8-2 edge in corners. Louisville notched its goal on a corner, one of two in the 60 minutes.

Duke in The Acc/B1G Cup
- Duke plays Northwestern and Maryland in the ACC/BIG Cup for the eighth time. The Blue Devils have faced the Wildcats and Maryland every season since 2015 except the 2020 campaign and are 9-5 all-time in the event. Duke went 9-1 in the first five tournaments, but has not beaten the Terps or Wildcats since sweeping the two in 2019.Â

Balanced Attack
- Duke has a wealth of scoring options this season. Three different Blue Devils scored goals versus Indiana and three different players had assists, including sophomore Brynn Crouse picking up her first career assist.

Penalty Corner Productivity
- Duke was quite successful on penalty corners in the season opener. Earning six penalty corners, the Blue Devils scored two goals and got a shot off on each of the six and put four on cage.
- Last season, Duke scored just eight goals on 111 penalty corners, registering a goal on 7.2 percent of the time.Â

Big Blue Devil Debut for Mcveigh
- Sophomore Alaina McVeigh made her Duke debut against Indiana last Friday, scoring a goal and putting five shots on frame. McVeigh missed all of her rookie season after suffering a knee injury the summer prior to arriving on campus.
- McVeigh saw her first action on the field with non-contact play this past spring. The Landsdale, Pa., native registered a pair of goals in the two exhibition games during preseason action. Playing for Gwynedd Mercy Academy, the 5-10 forward amassed 173 goals in her scholastic career.

Scouting The Opponents
- Maryland is 3-0 after a successful West Coast trip. Junior Hope Rose paced the Terrapins with five goals and an assist, including one game winner. Paige Kieft started all three games in goal, making five saves and combining for two shutouts with Alyssa Klebasko. The Maryland lineup is packed with depth at all positions. The Terps return a veteran defense in Rayne Wright and Maura Verleg.
- Northwestern is 0-1 after a loss to Louisville, despite outshooting the Cardinals, 21-3. The Wildcats return a number of starters from last year's national runner-up squad, which finished the 2022 season with a 20-5 record, including NFHCA All-West first team member Lauren Wadas and second team members Alia Marshall and Annabel Skubisz.

- Duke returns to Durham for a four-game homestand. The Blue Devils host Longwood and Liberty before opening ACC play Sept. 15 against Syracuse and taking on Old Dominion Sept. 17.
