CHARLOTTE – Following his hat trick against Furman, Duke men's soccer forward
Forster Ajago has been named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
This is Ajago's first ACC Player of the Week recognition after joining the Blue Devils as a graduate transfer for the 2023 season. The Navrongo, Ghana native is the first Blue Devil to be named an ACC Player of the Week this season.
Ajago helped Duke defeat Furman, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon with the first hat trick by a Duke player since
Thorleifur Ulfarsson in 2021. He opened the Blue Devils' scoring with a diving header off a corner kick in the first half and added his second with another header just 90 seconds into the second half. The hat trick was capped off in the 77th minute from the penalty spot and moved Ajago to 3-for-3 from the spot in his career.
The hat trick was the first of Ajago's career and his six points also set a new career high for points in a single game. He is currently tied for second in the country for total goals and tied for fifth-most points nationally.
Duke returns to action on Thursday, Aug. 31 when they match up against Wofford at 7 p.m., inside Koskinen Stadium. The match will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
