Hannah Miller has been named to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team the league announced Monday afternoon. Miller is one of the 11 players selected in a vote of the conference's seven coaches.
Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse and Wake Forest each had two representatives, while Boston College, Duke, Virginia each earned one spot. Reigning ACC and NCAA Champion North Carolina was picked to win the league, garnering 45 points and four of the seven first-place votes. Virginia was voted second with three first-place nods. Syracuse, Louisville, Boston College, Wake Forest and Duke round out the group.
A 2022 first-team All-ACC pick, Miller enters her final season as a Blue Devil ranked tied for 21st on the Duke career list for points (69) and 24th in goals (25). She is one point away from becoming the 21st player in Duke field hockey history to amass 70 career points.
Last season, Miller notched seven goals and 11 assists for a team-best 25 points. Her 11 assists rank tied for 18th in Duke single-season history as she became the 20th Blue Devil to record at least 11 helpers in a season. Β
Miller, a captain her senior season, has started every game in her Duke career. She was named to the USA Field Hockey Women's Indoor National Team over the summer and will compete in the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup in March in Calgary, Canada.
The Blue Devils return an experienced core of players who have played a combined 690 collegiate field hockey contests and started 414 of those. Duke welcomes back 89 percent of its points and 93 percent of the goals from the 2022 season. Duke brought in four rookies and a graduate student transfer.
Duke wrapped up its exhibition schedule over the weekend at North Carolina. The Blue Devils also went up against VCU during the preseason, benefiting from playing a full contest and overtime against the Rams.
The Blue Devils officially open the 2023 campaign Friday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m., on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ACCNX through the ESPN app or ESPN.com. A link is available on GoDuke.com.
