DURHAM – A week removed from breaking the single season saves record, freshman closer
James Tallon has been named a first team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.
The first team designation is Tallon's first of his career and his third All-American honor of the year.
Tallon, a 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher, has been the Blue Devils' closer this season, breaking the single season saves record on Friday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va., recording his 12th save of the season. In his 23 appearances this season, Tallon posted a 1.64 ERA and allowed just six earned runs to score. He fanned 54 batters to just 11 walks and opponents hit .185 off the lefty.
