PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – No. 14 Duke rowing completed day one of the NCAA Championships at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J. on Friday.

The Blue Devils' Varsity Four led the way with a strong third-place finish to advance into the A/B semifinals while the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight finished fourth in their respective heats and will compete in the C/D semifinals on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Varsity Eight kicked off the competition for Duke with a fourth-place finish, clocking a time of 06:43.130 to secure their spot in the C/D semifinals.
Duke's Second Varsity Eight was in a tight race with the third-place crew from Michigan but was narrowly edged by the Wolverines in the final 500 meters to place fourth. The 2V8 recorded a time of 06:53.271 and move on to the C/D semifinals.
The ninth-seeded Varsity Four crew of coxswain Mia Khamish, Grace Matos, Amelia Shunk, Shae Simpson and Chloe Zollman stroked their way to a third-place time of 07:40.510, just five seconds behind the second-place boat from California.

UP NEXT
All three boats will compete in the second day of the championship with the V8 and 2V8 crews set to race at 8:12 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively. The V4 advanced to the A/B semifinals slated for 10:24 a.m. on Saturday.
