PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – No. 14 Duke rowing had another strong showing during the second day of competition in the 2023 NCAA Championships at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J., on Saturday.

The Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight boats used a pair of first-place finishes in the C/D semifinals to secure their spots in the C Finals while the Varsity Four finished sixth in the A/B semifinals and will advance to the Petite Final on Sunday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Varsity Eight opened the second day of racing for the Blue Devils with a strong first-place finish in the C/D semifinals.
The V8 crew of coxswain Ithika Senthilnathan, Lauren Sizemore, Ella Harris, Megan Lee, Kathryn Nash, Lena Mills, Lily Abbott, Mollie Nicol and Brenna Morley were in a tight race with Indiana in the first 1,000 meters before pulling ahead in the final stretch. The Blue Devils posted a time of 06:28.965, edging the Hoosiers by nearly three seconds.
The Second Varsity Eight followed with another convincing first-place finish in their heat of the C/D semifinals after clocking a time of 06:38.449. The 2V8 improved their time from Friday by almost 15 seconds and earned their spot in the C Final on Sunday.
Duke's Varsity Four recorded a time 07:33.615 in the A/B semifinals to wrap up the day and advance to the Petite Final.
