DURHAM – Three Blue Devils earned 2023 All-America recognition by USA Lacrosse Magazine, the publication announced Tuesday.
Cubby Biscardi,
Katie DeSimone and
Maddie Jenner earned honorable mention honors after recently being named All-ACC.
Duke's defensive unit was solid this spring despite some of the outcomes. Spearheaded by veteran Biscardi, she has been the steady presence needed by the unit -- she makes a lot happen on the defensive end and is hugely important on the draw circle. This spring, she collected 38 caused turnovers, 36 draw controls and 17 ground balls. She finished Duke's season tied for 14th nationally with 2.11 caused turnovers per contest and led the ACC. Over her career, she amassed 110 caused turnovers to rank fifth in program lore. She reached 100 for her career in Duke's setback at Louisville (4/15). Biscardi tallied at least one caused turnover in 15 of Duke's 18 games this spring, including a career-high six in Duke's first round ACC Tournament victory over Louisville.
DeSimone was Duke's engine on the offensive side of the ball this spring with 66 points by way of 48 goals and 18 assists. In addition to leading the team offensively, she collected 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. She has climbed Duke's all-time charts fast as just a junior in 57 contests. To date, she owns 133 goals and 54 dimes for 187 career points. She ranks 14th in total points, 15th in goals and tied for 14th in assists. She tallied nine hat tricks, including two sock tricks, this spring.
Jenner returned to the circle in 2023 for her final year of eligibility as arguably the best in the sport at the draw. In 18 games, Jenner grabbed 187 draws, 29 goals and nine assists for 38 points to rank third on the team. She also owns nine ground balls and six caused turnovers, proving she's more than just a draw control specialist. Over the course of her career, she has amassed 791 total draws and is the nation's NCAA active career leader in draw controls per game (9.56) and total draw controls (791). She broke the NCAA Division I all-time draw control record in Duke's win over Gardner-Webb (2/19) in addition to the NCAA single-season draw control record last spring (233). She reached the 100 point and 100-goal milestones this season, adding to her impressive resume.
