LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Duke dropped a 14-13 decision to Louisville on the road Saturday afternoon at U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
Cubby Biscardi reached 100 caused turnovers for her career with her three today. She is just the sixth Blue Devil in program history to reach the mark.
Offensively, the Blue Devils were led by Carly Bernstein with three goals and an assist while Caroline DeBellis, Katie Keller and Kerry Nease all added two goals each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Louisville opened the scoring before Duke tallied five unanswered for a 5-1 lead with 6:30 remaining. DeBellis and Keller led the way early with two goals each.
- The Cardinals registered three goals in the second quarter but still trailed the Blue Devils at the half, 8-6. Louisville connected on consecutive goals 30 seconds apart and made it a one-goal game (6-5) with 13 minutes left in the half. Nease found the back of the cage for the sixth time this season on a free-position opportunity with just under 10 remaining before Bernstein found Maddie Jenner running to the cage with three left for the two-goal lead at the break.
- After 30 minutes, Duke outshot Louisville (17-16) as the Blue Devils put 14 on cage.
- A low-scoring third quarter featured a three-goal Blue Devil lead (9-6) as DeSimone dished a nice pass to Maddie McCorkle. Louisville added two to round out the third frame trailing by just one, 9-8.
- The Cardinals took their first lead of the game, 10-9, with consecutive goals less than 60 seconds apart from Nicole Perroni. Duke snapped a 3-0 Louisville run as Nease connected on her second goal of the day for a career high.
- With Duke trailing by one (11-10), the two squads traded the next three goals before Louisville took a three-goal lead (14-11). Bernstein collected her third goal of the afternoon with 2:17 remaining as Louisville held a slight two goal advantage at, 14-12.
- Duke got several good looks at the cage with under a minute to play in regulation before Lexi Schmalz finally tossed it past the Cards' goalie with 39 seconds remaining.
- Trailing 14-13, Cubby Biscardi came up with a crucial draw control to allow the Blue Devils to call a timeout. Keller got a good look at goal, but Louisville goalie Sara Addeche closed the door for her 17th save of the game.

- Duke moves to 7-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
- Nine different Blue Devils had a hand in the scoring.
- Duke was flawless on clears (18-of-18) for just the fourth time this season.
- Cubby filled up the stat sheet once again with three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls.
- Bernstein tallied consecutive games with a hat trick with her three goals today and for the third time in her career.
- Maddie Jenner collected 12 draw controls, moving her career number to 770 as the NCAA Division I leader.
- Louisville was led by Perroni with five goals and an assist.
