Snapshot of the Weekend
- The fourth-ranked Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville for a Friday evening matchup with the No. 8 Cavaliers. First hit is for 5 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACCNX through the ESPN app. Admission to the game is free.
- Sunday's contest at James Madison starts at 1 p.m., in Harrisonburg. That contest will be available on ESPN+ ($) through the ESPN app.

Weekend Notes
- Duke continues its three-game road swing in the Old Dominion state, taking on No. 8 Virginia and James Madison. The Blue Devils are a perfect 4-0 in true road games this season. Â
- The Blue Devils are riding an eight-game win streak, which includes four top-15 wins and three ACC victories. Duke is 10-1 overall and sports its best 11-game record since it was 10-1 in 2016. Duke is off to a 3-0 start in ACC play for the first time since 2016
- Virginia enters the weekend with a 7-4 record and 1-2 mark in ACC play. The Cavaliers' have ACC losses to Louisville and Boston College. Duke and Virginia share six common opponents this season with the Cavaliers going 3-3 and the Blue Devils going 6-0.
- James Madison is 2-8 overall and has played three ACC squads this season. The Dukes own wins against William & Mary and Columbia.

Movin' On Up
- Duke stayed put at No. 4 following another weekend sweep. The Blue Devils are 16 spots up from their preseason ranking of 20th. Duke is in fourth for the first time since November of 2019. The Blue Devils sit at No. 3 in the latest RPI rankings, reflecting their success and tough schedule combination.

Series Histories
- Duke and Virginia square off for the 62nd time in the programs' histories. The Cavaliers hold a 39-22 record and have won two straight and four of the past six. The Blue Devils last defeated Virginia twice in the 2020-21 season, matching 2-0 victories. Seven of the past 10 contests have been decided by a single goal.
- Duke and James Madison face each other for the ninth straight season. The Blue Devils are 22-12-1 against the Dukes, which includes a 4-2 setback in Durham last season. Duke had won 10 straight from 2010-2021.

Duke In ACC Play
- The Blue Devils struggled in ACC play the past three seasons, going 2-4 in the spring of 2021 and 0-6 in 2021 and 2022. Prior to Duke beating No. 6 Syracuse, 4-0, Duke's last conference victory was a shootout win over No. 3 Louisville April 10, 2021 - a span of 888 days. Duke has three wins in the ACC for the first time since winning five in 2018.
- Scoring had been an issue for Duke in recent years, being outscored 16-4 in ACC play in 2022 and 21-7 in 2021. Duke's four goals against the Orange this season were the most scored by the Blue Devils in regulation of an ACC contest since losing 5-4 to North Carolina, Oct. 18, 2020. The Blue Devils have outscored its ACC foes this season, 9-1. The one goal allowed in ACC play marks the fewest allowed by Duke through three ACC contests in program history.

A Win Friday Would
- Make Duke 4-0 in ACC play for the first time in Duke history. The Blue Devils went 5-1 in 2018, but lost to North Carolina in the second ACC game that season.

- Duke has been quite successful on penalty corners already this season, scoring 17 goals on 71 penalty corners. Last weekend, Duke scored two goals on 11 penalty corner situations.

A Comfortable Curland in 2023
- Junior midfielder Kira Curland is feeling right at home in Durham. In 11 games this season the native of Sickte, Germany has four goals and two assists, surpassing her total from 16 games last season. She is a threat both in open play and on penalty corners for the Blue Devils.
- A transfer from Indiana, Curland joined the Blue Devils last season after one year with the Hoosiers. The Sickte, Germany native started seven of her 16 games in 2022 and had a goal and an assist.

McVeigh Thriving
- In 11 games this season, sophomore Alaina McVeigh leads the ACC with 11 goals. She has scored at least one goal in nine of the 11 games and owns the winning markers in four, including two in overtime. She scored twice to ice the victory over Syracuse for the Blue Devils, including a strike that landed on SportsCenter Top 10.
- Always active in the circle and around the goal cage, McVeigh has taken a team-high 42 shots this season and put 26 on goal.
- McVeigh saw her first action on the field with non-contact play last spring. The Landsdale, Pa., native registered a pair of goals in the two exhibition games during preseason action. Playing for Gwynedd Mercy Academy, the 5-10 forward amassed 173 goals in her scholastic career.
Next Game
- Duke returns home for three straight games over the next two weekends. The Blue Devils host Louisville in an ACC battle and then Virginia in a non-conference matchup before closing out the home schedule against UConn.
