DURHAM – Duke baseball landed its third consecutive top-25 recruiting class as announced by
Baseball America on Wednesday, slotting in at 21st in the country.
Highlighted by four top-500 prospects, the 2024 class features key position players and pitchers joining the Blue Devils this season. Freshman
AJ Gracia, a two-way player out of Monroe, N.J., stands out for his easy left-handed swing and hitability. The 6-foot-3 outfielder and pitcher, brings a good feel to the plate and a strong arm on the mound.
Sam Harris has a big build at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and a powerful left-handed swing, while creating above-average bat speed and plenty of raw power. Catcher
Macon Winslow has a physical build at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds and has a solid track record as a defender. He has above-average power and arm strength and is advanced enough both offensively and defensively.
Pitcher
Kyle Johnson has exciting two-way ability as a left-hander and outfielder. On the mound, he has a three-pitch mix and is able to throw strikes with his whole arsenal. He is a right-handed hitter with good bat-to-ball skills. While scouts preferred him as a pitcher, he could impact the Blue Devils in either role this season.
