DURHAM – Former Blue Devils' right-handed pitcher Bryce Jarvis has been selected to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2023 Wild Card Roster, as announced by the organization Tuesday.
The Diamondbacks open the 2023 MLB Playoffs against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tuesday at 7:08 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN2 with Jon Sciambi, Doug Glanville, and Jesse Rogers on the call.
Jarvis made his MLB debut on Aug. 15, 2023, working three innings while allowing one run on one hit and striking out three batters. Since joining the big-league squad, the Lexington, Ky., native has produced a 2-1 record on the bump in 11 games played. He has recorded 23.2 innings for the Diamondbacks and struck out 12 batters.
In his last seven games, Jarvis has produced a 2.13 ERA with one start during that stretch. Tallying high-pressure innings for the Diamondbacks in 2023, Jarvis has produced a 0.87 WHIP in the final 12.2 innings of work.
Jarvis and Matt Mervis become the first duo of teammates to debut in the same season since John Courtright and Quinton McCracken both appeared during the 1995 season.
