Eight Blue Devils Ranked on Perfect Game's Top-500 Freshman List

DURHAM – Eight Duke baseball freshman were tabbed to Perfect Game's Top-500 Incoming Freshman list, as announced by the organization this week.
Macon Winslow (35), Kyle Johnson (46), Sam Harris (105), AJ Gracia (141), Chase Krewson (166), James Raidt (197), Camron Poe (330) and Michael Miller (458), were all listed inside the top-500 freshman list.
Winslow is an incoming catcher from Hertford, N.C., tabbed as the sixth-rated catcher in the class by Perfect Game. He was the third overall prospect in the state of North Carolina and the first-rated catcher. An athletic build catcher, who is very athletic out of his crouch with fast twitch lower half actions, stood out defensively during the recruiting process. In his eight games played with USA Baseball's 18U squad, Winslow posted a .400 average at the plate with one home run and four RBI. He collected six hits and scored three runs for the Stars and Stripes on his way to helping the USA win a gold medal.
Johnson, a two-way player from Leesburg, Va., displays a large physical frame with lots of well-proportioned strength throughout. The left-handed pitcher, with a mid-three-quarters arm slot and extended release, generates good arm speed and can throw all three pitches for strikes. At the plate, Johnson has a good lift to the swing and hits the ball hard very often. The two-way product was rated as the 91st prospect in the country and fifth in the state of Virginia.
Harris, the fourth-rated first baseman in the country and the top prospect in the state of Iowa, displays an extra-large frame with tons of length. The primary first baseman has soft hands and can pick the short hop with a strong arm. He has athletic quick feet and good accuracy to all bases. The left-handed hitter starts with a wide stance with even hands and back elbow. He has a super quiet operation with big-time power and good balance and extension.
Gracia, a native of Monroe, N.J., was tabbed as the top outfield prospect in the state of New Jersey and the fifth-overall prospect in the state. His extra-large and athletic frame provides fluid movements on approach to the ball with clean and easy release on his throws. The left-handed hitter begins with an even base and rotates through his hips and lower half well.
Krewson was tabbed as the top outfield prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the fifth overall prospect. The lefty has a polished swing with growing power and physical tools. The primary outfielder on defense has clean and athletic actions through the ball, very good football transitioning to his throws and outstanding arm strength. He showed the ability to drive the ball with carry both to left center and to the pull side with high level raw bat speed.
Raidt, the number two prospect in the state of Connecticut and second-rated right-handed pitcher in the state, has a long and lean athletic build. He works from the stretch with drop and drive mechanics and an early leg collapse. He gets good sinking action down in the zone and works low consistently when his arm is on time.
Poe, the Chesterfield, Mo., product was the sixth overall prospect in the state of Missouri and the fourth left-handed pitcher in his class. Poe produces a lean athletic build with long arms and legs. He works from a three-quarters arm slot and has the ability to throw two pitches in the zone with the development of a third.
Miller, the second overall prospect in the state of Minnesota and the top-rated right-handed pitcher, hails from Medota, Minn. He presents a big and strong build on the mound, with a multi-piece delivery. His high three-quarters arm slot creates deception in his delivery and has raw stuff. Has good grips and shaping in his pitches and understands the movement of his arsenal.
