DURHAM - The Duke baseball and softball program wrapped up the 2022 season and the partnership with K's 4 Kids' Cancer raised an impressive $7,500.80.Â
The two teams combined for 929 strikeouts this season while setting program records along the way. All proceeds from the partnership benefit the Duke Children's Hospital.Â
The baseball team set a program record of 10.60 strikeouts per nine innings, ranking amongst the top 15 nationally. As a team, the Blue Devils totaled 563 strikeouts on the season, the third-most in school history. Junior
Marcus Johnson and sophomore
Luke Fox led the the Blue Devils with 76 and 66 strikeouts. Fox tallied 11.25 strikeouts per nine innings to become the third player in Duke history to record 11+ strikeouts per nine innings in back-to-back seasons.Â
The softball program recorded a single season program record of 366 strikeouts, on its way to a historic season as it reached the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history. Graduate student
Peyton St. George and sophomore
Jala Wright led the way with 190 and 115 strikeouts, respectively.Â
