DURHAM – Duke track and field garnered 23 members to the All-ACC Academic Team, as the league unveiled the outdoor academic teams Friday morning.
The women's team, who finished the season tied for 21st in the USTFCCCA rankings, feature 14 athletes on the list – graduate students
Zoe Hughes, Erin Marsh and
Michaela Reinhart, seniors
Dana Baker,
Kelcie Simmons and
Isabel Wakefield, juniors
Halle Bieber,
Emily Cole,
Jenna Crean,
Brynn King and
Carly King,
sophomore
Brianna Smith and freshmen
Abby Geiser and
Megan McGinnis.
On the men's side, graduate students
Nick Dahl,
Erick Duffy,
Michael Fairbanks, Liam Kahn, Miles Mingo and
Donovan Spearman, juniors
Beau Allen, Ezra Mellinger and
Cole Rowan represent the Blue Devils.
Baker, Bieber, Cole, Dahl, Duffy, Geiser, C. King, Marsh, McGinnis and Reinhart competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, with each earning All-America honors headlined by Marsh's bronze medal in the heptathlon. Several more of this season's All-ACC Academic honorees earned All-ACC distinctions at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
