DURHAM – Duke southpaw
Jonathan Santucci has earned an invite to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Camp in Cary, N.C., later this month.
Â
Santucci, a native of Leominster, Mass., enjoyed a strong freshman season in Durham during the 2022 season. An outfielder and pitcher, Santucci began the year as a reliever before emerging into a starting role. Santucci finished with a 2-3 record in 20 appearances, including seven starts. He posted a team-best 4.17 ERA in 41.0 innings of work. In addition, Santucci led the program in opponent batting average (.211) and strikeouts per nine innings (12.73).
Â
In addition to his participation at the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Camp, Santucci is also playing for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League this summer. In one appearance on the mound, Santucci recorded a pair of strikeouts while allowing just one hit in three scoreless innings. Santucci went 1-for-4 in his lone appearance at the plate, hitting a double.
Â
Santucci will look to become the fourth Blue Devil on the Team USA Collegiate National Team, joining
Graeme Stinson (2018),
Bailey Clark (2015) and
Marcus Stroman (2011).
