Erin Marsh got off to a strong start in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, as the Buford, Ga., native currently sits in second place with 3,674 points after the completion of the first four events.
Marsh's performance on day one was highlighted by a pair of personal-best showings in the 100m hurdles and 200m dash. Marsh opened the afternoon session with a bang, clocking 13.14 seconds to post the fastest time of her career in the 100m hurdles. The mark was good for second overall and improved her No. 2 all-time Duke mark. She closed the evening in the 200m, dashing a lifetime best of 23.86 seconds to finish fourth overall.
Friday's heptathlon slate also featured the high jump and shot put competition. Marsh cleared her first four heights in the high jump before bowing out at 1.72m (5-7.75 feet), while the shot put saw her register a toss of 12.56m (41-2.50 feet).

Marsh wraps up the multis competition with the final three events of the heptathlon. She opens the day at 10:30 a.m. PT in the long jump, followed by the javelin (11:45 a.m. PT) and 800m (4:13 p.m. PT).
