CLEMSON, S.C. – Each of No. 14 Duke's five boats placed in the top three of their preliminary races on Friday to advance to the Grand Finals of the ACC Rowing Championship on Lake Hartwell.
The Blue Devils' Varsity Four, Third Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Four each finished first in their respective heats while the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight took second, earning a spot in Saturday's finals.
Duke's 3V8 got the morning started with the largest margin of victory for the Blue Devils, clocking a 7.4-second win over Clemson (7:10.225 to 7:17.667). Following second-place results in the V8 and 2V8, the top-seeded V4 took care of business with a winning time of 7:31.286, beating out Clemson's mark of 7:38.139.
The 2V4, which entered the regatta as the No. 3 seed in its boat class, closed out Friday's prelims with a first-place time of 7:34.747, pulling ahead of No. 2-seed Virginia at 7:38.205.
Saturday's action kicks off with the Third Varsity Eight Grand Final at 8:15 a.m. ET and wraps with the Varsity Eight at 9:55 a.m. Each race will be streamed live on
