Alex Stone hit two home runs but it wasn't enough as Duke came up short, falling to No. 7 Florida State, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.

Duke (11-12, 2-6 ACC) out-hit seventh-ranked Florida State (16-6, 6-2 ACC) 11-7, but were unable to find hits with runners on base as Duke stranded 11 batters on base compared to the Seminole's four.

Stone, senior
Damon Lux and junior
Chad Knight led the Blue Devils offensively with multi-hit days. Stone finished 3-for-4 with a pair of long balls. His three hits were a career high. Lux went 2-for-4 with two singles while Knight finished 2-for-5 with a double.

Sophomore southpaw
Luke Fox started on the mound for Duke. Fox allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits and three walks in five innings of work. The Waukesha, Wisc., native struck out six. Florida State's Bryce Hubbart allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while fanning four in his seven-inning start.

The Seminoles scored first, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning via a two-run home run. Duke responded in the top of the third inning with a solo home run by Stone.

Florida State would add a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to take a 6-1 lead. Duke threated in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with two outs, but was unable to score.

Stone hit his second home run of the day in the top of the seventh, but Florida State responded with a solo shot of its own in the bottom of the eighth to bring the games final score, 7-2.

Sophomore
Adam Boucher finished the game in relief for the Blue Devils. The Metuchen, N.J., native faced just 10 batters in three innings of work, striking out a career-high six. He allowed one run on a solo home run.

Duke and Florida State will conclude the series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
