DURHAM – The No. 8 Duke women's lacrosse team (10-1, 2-1 ACC) travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on No. 14 Notre Dame (4-5, 1-2 ACC) Saturday afternoon. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m., on ACCNX.

Duke and Notre Dame meet for the 23rd time in program history as the Blue Devils hold a narrow 12-10 lead in the all-time series. The Fighting Irish have won the last three. Duke has not won in South Bend since 2014 when the Blue Devils captured a 10-8 victory in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
A LOOK BACK
The eighth-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team improved to 10-1 (2-1 ACC) with two victories last week in Durham. The Blue Devils defeated Louisville (16-12) and Davidson (20-3). Duke's 10-1 record is tied for the best start in 11 games since 2015 when
Kerstin Kimel's squad reached the NCAA semifinal game. Senior
Maddie Jenner saw a historic afternoon on Sunday, breaking Duke's all-time draw control record. With her 11 draws against the Wildcats, she now owns 515 career draw controls, surpassing the previous record of 512 held by her sister, Olivia. Jenner also added a goal in the win as Duke dominated the draw circle with 21 draws to Davidson's five. Over her career, she has tallied 10-or-more draw controls 28 times and owns a career-high 21. She has been instrumental in winning the draw and awarding Duke possession the past four years. Graduate student
Catriona Barry paced the offense with 11 points (6G, 5A) while junior midfielder
Olivia Carner added seven points (4G, 3A), three ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
The Fighting Irish enter Saturday's contest 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play as the 14th-ranked team in the nation. Duke will be Notre Dame's sixth ranked opponent this season. Most recently, Notre Dame captured a 17-10 victory over Yale last weekend. Offensively, Notre Dame is led by Madison Ahern (30G, 9A), Kasey Choma (27A, 5A), Maddie Howe (19G, 13A) and Jackie Wolak (17G, 10A). Defensively, Hannah Dorney leads the team with 20 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Bridget Deehan owns an 11.19 GAA and a .451 save percentage with over 500 minutes between the pipes.

FAST & FURIOUS
Through 11 games, Duke has tallied a whopping 219 goals and 105 assists for 324 points. Its 19.91 goals per game and 29.36 points per game rank first nationally. Duke has proven to score fast and furiously this season and has received scoring contributions from 21 different players. Not only are they scoring in bunches, the Blue Devils are also sharing the ball well, assisting on nearly half their goals with 105 assists on 219 goals, led by
Catriona Barry (23) and
Katie DeSimone (19).
MARCH MADNESS
Duke is finishing up a busy March that features seven games, which included three ranked opponents. The Blue Devils dropped a narrow 18-16 contest at No. 3 Syracuse for their only first loss of the 2022 season. Duke defeated Pittsburgh (15-14), Penn (21-10), Louisville (16-12) and Davidson (20-3). Duke closes out its final two contests of the month with No. 14 Notre Dame (March 26) and Liberty (March 29).
THE ONE-TWO PUNCH

Katie DeSimone have combined for an outstanding 124 points in nine games. No other duo in Division I has accomplished that this season. Barry owns 43 goals and 23 assists for 66 points while DeSimone has 39 goals and 19 assists for 58 points. Last season, Barry tallied 35 points to DeSimone's 37.
CARNER'S CRUISE CONTROL
Junior midfielder
Olivia Carner has seen huge strides this season both offensively and defensively. She is third on the team with 36 points from 20 goals and 16 assists and is shooting .541 percent. Defensively, Carner is second on the squad with an impressive 18 caused turnovers and also has 13 draw controls and 11 ground balls. Against Pittsburgh and Penn, Carner was stellar for Duke on both sides of the field. She tallied a career-high six points (3G, 3A) against Pittsburgh and a career-high four caused turnovers. She followed that performance with three goals against Penn.
LOOKING AHEAD
Looking ahead, Duke has a quick turnaround for a Tuesday contest at Liberty. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m., on ESPN+ in Lynchburg, Va.
