KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has released its 2022 All-District Teams, with Duke junior
Wendell Moore Jr., and freshman
Paolo Banchero earning mention. The NABC honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division-I.
Banchero earned a spot on the District 2 First Team, while Moore was a second-team selection. District 2 is comprised of the 15 teams in the ACC.
Banchero, who was also named first-team All-ACC, is one of only three players ranked in the ACC's top 10 in both scoring and rebounding. The freshman from Seattle, Wash., is averaging 17.0 points to rank sixth in scoring and 7.8 rebounds to rank fifth on the glass. Among all power conference true freshmen, Banchero ranks second in scoring, second in rebounding and second in double-doubles (10).
Moore is enjoying a career year as a junior, ranking third in the ACC in assists (4.6), 15th in steals (1.50) and fourth in assist/turnover ratio (2.25). The team's second leading scorer at 13.5 points and third leading rebounder (5.4), Moore was a second-team All-ACC selection. The Charlotte native is the nation's only power conference player shooting .500+ from the field, .400+ from three-point range, averaging 5.0+ rebounds and 4.0+ assists.
The Blue Devils have had at last one All-District selection in 26 consecutive seasons with multiple selections in 14 of the past 15 season. Duke and Notre Dame were the only programs in District 2 this season with multiple honorees.
Duke is 28-6 overall and begins its 44th NCAA Tournament on Friday as the No. 2-seed in the West Region vs. Cal State Fullerton. The game tips at 7:10 p.m. ET on CBS at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.
