In addition to the four captains, five additional Blue Devils will fill out the 2022 leadership council. Each class elected a representative for the council in freshman

Graham Pauley. Hoyle is currently serving as the president of Duke's Student-Athlete Advisory Council for the 2021-22 academic year.

Crabtree, Johnson and Fox were members of the program's leadership council a year ago. Crabtree will serve as the chairman of the group.

The program instituted the leadership council in 2015 to take advantage of the team's diverse group of leaders. The concept was originally inspired through conversations with former Blue Devil and current Pittsburgh Pirates Professional Evaluation Team LeaderÂ
Larry Broadway.

The Blue Devils open the season Feb. 18-20 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park as they host VMI.
