The Opening Faceoff
- Duke returns 66 percent of its scoring from a year ago, including five of its top scorers from the 2021 team that ranked sixth nationally (14.24 ppg). Sophomore Brennan O'Neill is the top goal scorer from last season, registering 45 goals in his rookie season. Joe Robertson enters the year with 173 career points (126g, 47a) and is poised to become the 14th Blue Devil to record 200 career points.
- Mike Adler is the veteran returner to anchor the defense with 52 career games under his belt. He leads all current Division I goaltenders with 588 career saves and has played 2,915 minutes between the pipes. He needs 459 minutes to move into 25th all-time in NCAA Division I history.
- Duke is set to play 17 regular season contests in 2022, which is the most in program history. The Blue Devils have played 16 regular season games multiple times, but tipped over 17 after ACC and NCAA Tournament games. Duke's seven games in the month of February also are the most in program history.
- The Blue Devils are set to face eight in the USILA preseason top 20 poll. Duke went 9-3 last season against top 20 opponents, including 2-1 when ranked lower.

The 2022 Leaders
Home Sweet Home
- Duke enters the 2022 season riding an 11-game home win streak. The Blue Devils' last loss at Koskinen Stadium was Feb. 1, 2020 to Air Force.
- Duke is 123-23 in games in Durham under head coach John Danowski. The Blue Devils have gone unbeaten at home three times since 2007.
Last Time We Met - Robert Morris
- Duke and Robert Morris played for the first time in the programs' histories in 2021. The Colonials jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter, but Duke outscored RMU 8-2 over the next 30 minutes en route to a 16-12 victory.
- Nakeie Montgomery led the way with four points from three goals and an assist, while Cameron Badour registered a hat trick. Michael Sowers had three assists. In goal, Mike Adler made 11 saves in 45 minutes of action.
- Jake Naso, in his first full game facing off, went 19-28 at the dot and had nine ground balls and an assist.
Scouting Robert Morris
- Robert Morris enters the 2022 season picked to finish third in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Colonials received one first-place vote. Individually, graduate students Corson Kealey was named the 2022 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, while Jake Boudreau was voted the Preseason Midfielder of the Year. Owen Down joined both on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team.
- Robert Morris is under new leadership as Craig McDonald took over the reins in September. McDonald spent the previous seven seasons at UMass. The Colonials finished the season 7-6 overall last season.
- Jake Boudreau is the top returning scorer to the team, totaling 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points. Kealey had 26 points for the Colonials a year ago after playing just nine contests. Steve DelleMonache is back at the faceoff dot after taking 200 faceoffs a year ago. Owen Down will anchor the defense, while Liam Rosenthal is back between the pipes. He started eight games and finished with a 12.21 goals against average.
Scouting Vermont
- Vermont heads into the 2022 campaign as the favorite to win the America East in vote of the conference's coaches. The Catamounts received all six first-place votes after finishing with a 9-5 record and winning the America East title to make their NCAA Tournament debut.
- Vermont, ranked 17th in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll, returns a wealth of experience, including the top nine scorers from 2021, including All-American midfielder Thomas McConvey and all-league picks David Closterman, Liam Limoge and Michael McCormack.
- Leading the charge in the faceoff game is All-American Tommy Burke following his record-setting year in 2021. Ryan Cornell returns for his second year between the pipes, while the duo of Will Jones and Tim Manning anchor the close defense unit.

Battle at The Faceoff Dot
- Sunday's matchup between Duke and Vermont features two of the best faceoff specialists in the country in Blue Devil sophomore Jake Naso and Vermont's Tommy Burke.
- Naso played in all 17 games last season, earning USILA All-America honorable mention recognition. He won 227-of-361 faceoffs to rank first in the ACC and 10th nationally with a .629 win percentage. His 227 wins were the most by a Duke freshman in program history, while his 133 ground balls were the most in the ACC and eighth nationally at 7.82 per game.
- Burke, also an honorable mention All-American, finished the season ranked third nationally with a .698 win percentage. His 8.93 ground balls were fifth in the country.
- Naso and Burke shared two common opponents last season in Syracuse and Maryland. Naso went 24-of-32 versus the Orange and 4-of-11 against the Terrapins. Burke was 24-of-34 and 11-of-26, respectively.
