DURHAM – No. 14 Duke rowing gets spring racing underway on Saturday with a scrimmage against No. 5 Virginia at Lake Michie in Bahama, N.C.
The Blue Devils will have their first look at competitive pieces since wrapping up the 2021 fall slate at the Rivanna Romp on Virginia's home course on Nov. 14.
DUKE VS. VIRGINIA
- The top-two finishers at three of the last five ACC Championship regattas, Duke and Virginia head into the 2022 spring campaign each ranked in the top 15 of the Pocock/CRCA national poll.
- The Cavaliers and Blue Devils claimed gold and silver, respectively, at the 2021 conference regatta last May, with Virginia netting 99 team points to Duke's 84.
- Both squads appeared at the last two NCAA Championships. In 2021, Virginia placed fifth overall while Duke took 16th.
- In 2019, the Blue Devils' Varsity 4+ boat outraced Virginia by seven seconds at the ACC Championship to win the first gold medal in program history. That lineup included current seniors Amelia Shunk and Olivia Von Stauffenberg.
- Duke and Virginia have scheduled a preseason scrimmage on Lake Michie each of the past three seasons. Last year's event was canceled due to COVID-19 issues.

- In the Novice 8+ event, Duke placed two of the top three finishers, including the first-place A boat at 15:15.420.
