What to Watch For
- Head Coach Marissa Young returns 17 members of last season's ACC Championship squad, including the first All-American in program history in Deja Davis, as well All-Region honorees Peyton St. George and Shelby Walters in the circle.
- Davis was named preseason All-ACC for the second time in her collegiate career, along with graduate student Jameson Kavel. Kavel is swinging a hot bat this season, hitting .364 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
- A home run from either Caroline Jacobsen or Kristina Foreman would make them the first in Blue Devils history with 25.
- Three Blue Devils – Jacobsen, Kavel and Gold -- have started the year on 10-game on base streaks. Kavel owns the longest hit streak of the year at nine in a row.
- St. George is closing in on 500 career strikeouts, needing 28 to become the first in program history to reach that threshold.
- Duke is 27-11 all-time against opponents in North Carolina and will have its first of nine against a North Carolina based program.
- Graduate students Rachel Crabtree and Kavel both have a chance to become the first Blue Devil to reach 200 career hits, with Kavel at 198 and Crabtree standing at 197.
- Both could also become the first Blue Devil to 100 career RBI, with Crabtree at 97 and Kavel at 95 entering Wednesday.
- The Blue Devils met the Phoenix in a fall ball game back on Oct. 29, with Duke taking the win 10-0.
