BRIGHTON, Mass. – Redshirt sophomore
Kairi Rodriguez starred as No. 21 Duke (38-15) advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Softball Championship with a 7-0 rout of No. 16 Stanford (40-11) Thursday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village in Brighton, Mass.
Rodriguez led the Blue Devils on offense, batting 2-for-3 with a home run and four batted in. Graduate student
Thessa Malau'ulu (1-for-2) tallied a double and two RBI while junior
KK Mathis went 1-for-3 with a two-bagger and RBI of her own.

Dani Drogemuller tossed her 11th complete game of the season after working all 7.0 innings. Drogemuller surrendered four hits with three strikeouts en route to earning her 17th win (17-7) of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rodriguez got the Blue Devils on the board early with a single to left field in the bottom of the first. Her hit scored Malau'ulu, who drew a leadoff walk before advancing to second on senior Ana Gold's groundout.
- Duke made it a 2-0 game in the bottom of the third after Mathis knocked a double to left center, driving in junior Aminah Vega for the two-run advantage. Vega got on base with a hit-by-pitch to start the half inning.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Rodriguez ballooned the Blue Devil lead to 5-0 with a three-run shot down the left field line. The long ball brought in Gold and Vega, who reached on a hit-by-pitch and fielder's choice, respectively.
- The Blue Devils tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth off the bat of Malau'ulu. Following freshman Brooklinn Thomas' walk and junior D'Auna Jennings' single to lead off, Malau'ulu blasted a double through the left center gap to plate Thomas and Jennings in for the 7-0 advantage.
NOTES:
- Duke improved to 10-4 overall in the ACC Softball Championship with Thursday's 7-0 shutout.
- Rodriguez posted her 18th multi-hit game while extending her hitting streak to 10. She also recorded four RBI to post her 11th multi-RBI game, with Thursday marking her second contest of four plus.
- Malau'ulu extended her hitting streak to six consecutive games and saw her multi-RBI game total rise to eight after tallying two.
- With her seven innings of work against Stanford, Drogemuller eclipsed 500 career innings pitched (504).
UP NEXT:
- The fourth-seeded Blue Devils advance to the semifinals, where they will matchup against top-seeded Florida State. First pitch is set for 10 a.m., on Friday, May 9.
