DURHAM, N.C.—Duke graduate student
Sean Lulley and freshman
Andrew McAdorey combined for nine goals and four assists to help the seventh-ranked Blue Devils move past No. 17 Delaware, 19-14, in non-conference men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
Lulley scored five second-half goals and added a pair of assists, while McAdorey notched four markers and dished two helpers to help the Blue Devils improve to 5-1 on the year. Delaware suffered its first loss, moving to 3-1 this season.
The seven points from Lulley and the six by McAdorey were career highs for both as Blue Devils. Lulley had eight points once during his career at Penn. Junior
Dyson Williams registered four goals for his sixth consecutive hat trick this season and
Brennan O'Neill had two. Eight different Duke players had at least one goal, including graduate student
Cameron Mulé who came off the bench for the second straight game to score an extra-man goal for the Blue Devils.
Duke was aided by the play of sophomore
Jake Naso at the faceoff dot. The second-year specialist won a career-high 27 faceoffs on a career-high 35 attempts. He also scooped 16 ground balls, the most in his time as a Blue Devil.
The Blue Devils, like they've proven all year, scored in bunches in the opening half. After the Blue Hens notched the first goal of the game, Duke responded with seven of the next nine in a span of 8:48 for a 7-3 lead after the first quarter.

Tyler Carpenter spurred the action by forcing a turnover, picking up the ground ball and racing down the field to open the scoring for the Blue Devils. Williams and O'Neill bolstered the spurt with two goals apiece.
Carpenter, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Week, finished his day with a caused turnover, four ground balls and a goal.
Delaware, refusing to go away, outscored Duke, 4-2, in the second quarter make it a 9-7 game at the break. JP Ward had three goals in the opening half for the Blue Hens and finished with four on the afternoon.
The second half was much of the same as Duke built a 14-10 lead midway through the third quarter before Delaware rallied again to pull within two, 14-12, after three periods. The Blue Devils, however, never let the Blue Hens any closer with Lulley leading the way with a hat trick in the fourth quarter to ice the victory.
The native of Melville, N.Y., scored the first two goals of the final stanza, while sophomore
Aidan Danenza threw in a goal to put it out of reach for the Blue Hens at, 17-12, with 6:46 remaining.
Ty Kurtz led the way offensively for Delaware with four goals and an assist and Mark Bieda had two goals and two assists. Owen Grant was the leader around the crease, forcing two turnovers and picking up three ground balls for the Blue Hens.
In goal, Delaware's Matt Kilkeary had 11 saves in 60 minutes of action. Duke's
Mike Adler made eight saves before
Andrew Bonafede came off the bench for the final 22 minutes. Bonafede had three stops to close out the game.
Duke hits the road for the first time this weekend to take on No. 10 Penn at MacArthur High School in Levittown, N.Y. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
