The Opening Faceoff
- The Blue Devils enter the midweek contest following a commanding 19-10 victory over No. 11 Denver Saturday. The matchup with the Blue Hens is Duke's sixth game in 19 days and caps a six-game homestand to start the 2022 season.
- Delaware is Duke's second top-20 foe this season. The Blue Devils are 1-0 after the win over Denver and have a matchup against No. 11 Penn Feb. 26.
- Dyson Williams continues his red-hot start to the 2022 season. He leads all scorers with 18 goals and four assists for 22 points. The junior has a hat trick in every game this season. Brennan O'Neill has 15 goals and 20 points and Joe Robertson has 18 points from nine goals and nine assists.
- Sean Lulley and Nakeie Montgomery have 14 and 12 points, respectively, to round out a Duke offense that is averaging 16.80 goals per game.
- Defensively, Kenny Brower is the anchor down low and has seven caused turnovers and 14 ground balls. Wilson Stephenson has nine caused turnovers and 11 GBs, while Tyler Carpenter has eight and 23, respectively.
- In goal, Mike Adler has been outstanding, averaging 12.8 saves per game and sporting a .571 save percentage. He has made 16 saves twice already this season.

Scouting Delaware
- Delaware comes to Durham with an unblemished 3-0 record with wins over NJIT, Mount St. Mary's and Saints Joseph's. The Blue Hens are ranked 17th by the coaches and are coming off a 10-3 season in 2021.
- The Blue Hens were picked to finish second in the CAA behind Drexel. Delaware swept the preseason major awards as Mike Robinson and Owen Grant were named the league's respective Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
- Clay Miller paces the offense with 11 goals and 13 points overall, while Robinson has eight goals and 12 points. The Blue Hens are averaging 14.33 goals per game and shooting nearly 40 percent after three outings.
- On the defensive end of the field, Delaware is allowing just 8.67 goals per game. Grant has seven caused turnovers and four ground balls to anchor the defense. Logan Premtaj handles the faceoff duties, winning 24-of-61 (.393).
- In goal, Matt Kilkeary sports a 9.38 goals against average and a .529 save percentage. He is averaging nine saves per game.
Welcome Back Coach DeLuca
- Delaware head coach Ben DeLuca is a familiar face to the Blue Devils. The Cornell graduate served as a volunteer assistant coach with Duke during the 2014 season. He helped mentor Duke's defensive corps as the Blue Devils captured a second consecutive NCAA title. Duke allowed just 9.65 goals per game in 2014, holding 10 of 20 opponents to fewer than 10 goals. Will Haus, Henry Lobb, Luke Duprey and Chris Hipps all garnered All-America recognition as members of Duke's defensive crew that season.

Series History
- Duke and Delaware are meeting for the 14th time in the programs' histories and for the first time since the 2011 NCAA first round matchup.
