THE OPENING TIP
- Duke gears up for its final home game of the non-conference slate, welcoming Austin Peay to Cameron on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
- Evan Budrovich and Kyle Straub will call the action on ACCNX while Chris Edwards calls the game on the radio on the Blue Devil Sports Network from Learfield.
- Defense has been the calling card for the Blue Devils early in the season as the team has held its opponents to a 31.4 percent clip from the field and 50.6 points per game. Those marks check in at fourth and seventh in the NCAA, respectively, while also ranking first and second in the ACC (as of 12.6.22).
- Redshirt junior Jordyn Oliver checks in at No. 4 nationally and first in the ACC with a 5.29 assist-to-turnover ratio (as of 12.7.22). She leads the team with 4.1 assists per game.
- Over her last six games, Oliver has tallied 24 assists to just three turnovers.
- Commanding the game from the jump, Duke women's basketball finished with four in double figures as the Blue Devils blitzed Richmond, 100-49.
- Junior Vanessa de Jesus delivered a stellar performance off the bench as she matched her career high, pouring in a game-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Classmate Kennedy Brown was one point shy of tying her career high, finishing the game with 15 points on 85.7 percent shooting (6-of-7) while also grabbing five boards of her own.
- Senior Celeste Taylor and freshman Ashlon Jackson also finished in double figures, with Taylor registering 14 points and Jackson contributing a dozen for a career high.
- Elizabeth Balogun led the efforts on the glass with a game-high eight rebounds and Jordyn Oliver dished out a game-high seven assists.
- With its 100-49 rout of Richmond on Sunday, Duke eclipsed the 100-point threshhold for the second time this season.
- Duke's 33-point second period outburst set a school record for most points in a second quarter.
- The Blue Devils cashed in 81.3 percent (13-of-16) of their shots during the 10-minute session, which ranks as the highest second quarter field goal percentage in program history.
- The 40 points scored in the third was also a Duke record for most points in the respective quarter.
- Duke also had its best showing of the season from behind the arc, hitting 11 treys on a 48 percent clip (23 attempts).
- The lone meeting between Duke and Austin Peay occured on March 22, 2009, with the Blue Devils posting a convincing 83-42 victory over APSU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS
- Austin Peay enters the contest with a 3-4 overall record.
- In their most recent outing, the Governors dropped a back-and-forth battle to Gardner Webb, 62-58.
- Yamia Johnson leads APSU and is sixth in the ASUN Conference with 14.4 points per game while also averaging 5.1 rebounds.
- Head coach Brittany Young is in her second season at the helm of the Governors and sports a 23-17 overall record.
- Young led the team to a 20-13 record in her first season at APSU, becoming just the fourth coach in program history to lead Austin Peay to a 20-win season.
- Following 44 seasons and 10 conference championships as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, Austin Peay joined the Atlantic Sun Conference on July 1, 2022.
SHARING THE WEALTH
- The Duke quintet of senior Elizabeth Balogun, junior Kennedy Brown, sophomores Shayeann Day-Wilson and Reigan Richardson and senior Celeste Taylor have provided a steady hand for the Blue Devils in the early 2022-23 season, combining for 62.2 percent (44.7 points) of the team's 71.9 points per game.
- Taylor has reached double digits in six of the nine games this season, followed by Brown's five double-figure scoring games, with Balogun and Richardson tallying four apiece.
- Day-Wilson has scored 10-plus points on two occasions.
- Taylor leads the offensive charge for Duke with 11.4 points per game with Brown in second at 9.8 points a contest.
- Balogun (9.4) and Richardson (7.1) are next in line while Day-Wilson rounds out the group with a 7.0 point per game average.
- The Blue Devils tallied 25 assists on 38 made field goals (.658) in the win at Richmond on Sunday, marking Duke's fourth game with 20-plus assists as well as the third outing with at least 25 dimes.
- As a team, the Blue Devils have assisted on 157 of their 250 made field goals (.628) for an average of 17.4 dimes per game.

BEARD, GOESTENKORS, SILAR TO BE HONORED AT HALFTIME
- At halftime of the game, there will be a ceremony to honor Duke women's basketball legends in all-time leading scorer Alana Beard, former head coach Gail Goestenkors and former assistant coach Jacki Silar, who will be three of eight individuals to be inducted into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame this Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.
- A commemorative poster will be given to the first 400 fans in attendance.
TAYLOR HAS HER EYES ON THE (GRAND) PRIZE
- Senior Celeste Taylor is rapidly closing in on 1,000 career points as she looks to become the third Blue Devil on the 2022-23 roster to surpass the benchmark.
- Taylor has tallied 103 points through nine games this season to move her career total to 980, needing only 20 points to reach a grand.
