THE OPENING TIP
- Duke women's basketball looks to remain unbeaten as the Blue Devils gear up for a showdown with power five opponent and SEC foe Texas A&M.

- The Blue Devils are off to a 3-0 start for the third consecutive season following a 60-37 road win at Davidson this past Saturday.
- Senior Celeste Taylor paced the Blue Devils with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting while also snagging four rebounds and collecting two steals.
- Sophomore Shayeann Day-Wilson and redshirt junior Jordyn Oliver also finished in double figures, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.
- Oliver led the efforts on the glass for the second straight game with eight boards, while sophomore Reigan Richardson tallied a team-best five assists.
- Duke is averaging 82.7 points per game while outscoring its opponents by an average of 34.7 points. The Blue Devils also hold a plus 12.7 rebounding margin on the glass.
- The Blue Devils have played stout defense through the first three games of the season as they have held opponents to just 26.5 percent shooting from the floor, which ranks second in the ACC and 11th nationally.
- Duke has received a huge lift from its reserves, averaging 41.0 points off the bench.
- Kara Lawson and Joni Taylor served as assistant coaches for the U.S. National Team at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup this past September, helping lead Team USA to its fourth straight gold medal.
SHARING THE ROCK
- Duke has looked to make the extra pass, assisting on 66 of its 95 field goals.
- The Blue Devils are averaging 22.0 assists through the first three games, which is currently tied for sixth in the NCAA.
- In the season opener, eight different players finished the game with three assists - Elizabeth Balogun, Shayeann Day-Wilson, Vanessa de Jesus, Ashlon Jackson, Jordyn Oliver, Reigan Richardson, Celeste Taylor and Lee Volker.
- Oliver led the assist efforts in the victory over Charleston Southern with six, while Day-Wilson totaled four.
- In the win at Davidson on Saturday, Richardson dished out a team-best five dimes.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
- Texas A&M is 2-0 on the season and comes into Thursday's game following a 73-49 victory over Army on Sunday.
- Freshman forward Janiah Barker scored in double-figures for the first time in her career with a game-high 17 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field. She also added seven rebounds along with two steals.
- Junior guard Sahara Jones added 11 points and 11 rebounds, senior center Sydnee Roby chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while fifth-year senior forward Aaliyah Patty chalked up eight points and nine rebounds.
- Barker has led the team through the first two games of the season, averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 1.5 blocks.
- Jones has averaged 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season and recorded the first double-double of her career versus Army.
- The Aggies are the second-youngest team in the SEC with just six players on the roster classified as juniors or above.
- Head coach Joni Taylor is in her first year at Texas A&M. The 2021 SEC Coach of the Year comes to Bryan-College Station following seven seasons at Georgia where she amassed 140 victories and led the Bulldogs to the 2021 SEC Tournament championship game.
BASKETBALL TIES
- Kara Lawson and Joni Taylor have USA Basketball ties as both head coaches served as assistant coaches for the U.S. National Team at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup this past September, helping lead Team USA to its fourth straight gold medal.
- Duke assistant coach Karen Lange and sophomore Reigan Richardson also share ties with Taylor having both been at Georgia during the 2021-22 season.
- Lange was an associate head coach on Taylor's staff while Richardson played her freshman season in Athens, serving as a key piece off the bench for the Bulldogs.
