The First Touch
- Duke opens the ACC Tournament Tuesday against No. 2 seed Wake Forest. The Blue Devils are hosting the postseason event for the first time since 2014.

- The Blue Devils are 7-10 this season and 18-39 all-time in ACC Tournament play. Duke's last ACC Tournament win came in 2018 against Syracuse. This will be the 16th meeting between Duke and Wake Forest in ACC postseason play with the Blue Devils leading the way 9-6.
- Wake Forest is 14-4 overall and finished as the No. 2 seed with a 5-1 mark in conference play. The Demon Deacons lost to North Carolina in the quarterfinals in the 2021 ACC Tournament.
- The Blue Devils have a balanced offense with 12 different players scoring at least one goal this season. Five different players have double-digit points with Hannah Miller pacing the Blue Devils with 25.

Duke in the ACC Tournament
- The Blue Devils are hosting the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2014 and for the fifth time since the first event held in 1983. Duke is 18-39 overall in the event and 3-5 when playing at home in the ACC Tournament. Duke went 1-1 in 2018 - also Duke's last ACC Tournament win. Duke is 0-2 as the No. 7 seed and 15-16 in quarterfinal matchups.

Scouting Wake Forest
- Wake Forest enters the ACC Tournament as winners of eight of its past nine contests and averaging three goals per game in the past three outings. The Demon Deacons are 14-4 overall and 5-1 in ACC play with the loss being a 2-0 setback to North Carolina. Wake Forest is in search of its fifth ACC title.
- Meike Lanckhor paces the offense with nine goals and 12 assists for 30 points, while Sky Caron and Hannah Maxwell have 21 and 20, respectively. Wake Forest averages 2.82 goals per game to rank third in the ACC and 14th nationally. The Demon Deacons are firing 16 shots per outing and averaging just over seven penalty corners per game. Defensively, Wake Forest has allowed 20 goals overall, but has not given up a goal since Oct. 21 against Boston College. In goal, Ellie Todd has played the vast majority of minutes and owns a 13-3 record and five shutouts. She sports a 1.33 goals against average and a .754 save percentage.

The Blue Devils hold a 44-37 overall record against the Demon Deacons, but Wake Forest has the recent success, winning four of the past five. Duke's last win against Wake Forest was a 2-0 triumph in 2020. Duke has fared the best against Wake Forest of any team in he ACC Tournament, going 9-6. The Blue Devils have played both the Demon Deacons and Tar Heels 15 times in ACC postseason action. A winner of three straight, Wake Forest has scored 10 goals in its past three wins over Duke.

About the Blue Devils
- Tuesday's contest against Wake Forest will be the 16th meeting in ACC postseason play between the two teams.
- The Blue Devils have been dangerous in the circle, earning 106 penalty corners. Ranking 32nd nationally in penalty corners per game (6.24), Duke continues to work towards capitalizing on all of the action in the circle. Duke has 41 goals this season, 13 more than it had in 17 games in 2021. Twenty-four of the 41 came in three games.
- Hannah Miller paces the Duke offense with seven goals and 11 assists for 26 points. Issy Carey is the top goal scorer with nine tallies, while Logan Clouser has five. Charlie van Oirschot is the engine to the Duke midfield with five goals and three assists. Duke has struggled a bit offensively in ACC play, scoring only four goals despite averaging nearly nine shots and five penalty corners per game.
- Defensively, the Blue Devils' entirely new backline continue to gel as a unit. Senior Mary Harkins has stepped up as a captain, while Megan Maransky is having an outstanding sophomore campaign. Rookie Paige Bitting has started 14 games and is a crucial piece to the backline. In goal, Piper Hampsch is averaging 2.81 saves per game and has a .625 save percentage, while Grace Brightbill has started five of the past seven contests. Brightbill has played in nine games and sports a 1.96 goals against average and a .733 save percentage.

Defense Coming Together        Â
- Duke's inexperienced backline has come together down the stretch of the regular season. The Blue Devils have allowed just six goals in the past five games for a 1.20 goals against average. Duke's opponents are averaging just nine shots per game and only one penalty corner in that stretch.
- In the six games prior to that - Syracuse, Colgate, Boston College, JMU, Virginia and Wake Forest - Duke gave up 17 goals for a 2.83 goals against average on only 9.3 shots per game. Opponents averaged four penalty corners per game in that span.
- In the first 12 games of the year, Duke's goals against average stood at 2.50 and the Blue Devils were giving up just over five penalty corners per game.

Miller Climbs The Charts           Â
- Duke senior captain Hannah Miller continues to climb the Duke career scoring chart. With six points at Longwood, the veteran forward pushed her points total to 69 to rank tied for 21st. Her 25 career goals are 24th in Duke history.
- Miller, playing back in the midfield at times this season, has dished a career-best 11 assists. She is second in the ACC in total assists and assists per game and ranks 15th nationally with the 0.65 per game average. She is one of 18 players nationally to have at least 11 helpers.
