DURHAM – After strong running this past weekend at the Nuttycombe Invitational, the Duke men's cross country team made its debut in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll, checking in at No. 29 in the Week 5 rankings.
Competing amid a loaded, nationally-ranked men's field at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, the Blue Devils ran past four top-30 ranked teams – No. 11 Iowa State, No. 14 Gonzaga, No. 20 Harvard and No. 27 Michigan State – en route to finishing the 8K race in 19th with 495 points.
Additionally, the Duke men produced three top-100 individual finishers.
Chris Theodore led the charge as he clocked 23:48.8 for 57th-place, followed by
Owen MacKenzie (23:56.9) and
Zach Kinne (24:01.0) in 77th and 91st, respectively.
The Blue Devils are back in action next weekend as the team returns to the Panorama Farms course in Charlottesville, Va., to open postseason competition at the ACC Championships on Friday, Oct. 28.
