TUCSON, Ariz. – Sophomore
Ian Siebers collected his fifth top-10 finish this season as the Duke men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh at the Arizona Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Tucson Country Club in Tucson, Ariz.
After opening with a 4-under 68 on Monday morning, Siebers signed for an 8-under 208 for the 54-hole tournament, which included rounds of 69 and 71 on Tuesday.
Siebers capped his tournament with a 1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round that was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth for the sophomore from Bellevue, Wash. He has finished inside the top 10 in each of his five tournaments this season.
As a team, Duke was 5-under 859 and finished in a three-way tie for seventh with Iowa State and New Mexico State. The host Arizona Wildcats won the event at 35-under, edging New Mexico by a stroke for the team title.
Freshman teammates
Luke Sample and
Kelly Chinn each finished in a tie for 26th 2-under 214. The pair each posted rounds of 73 on Monday and rounds of and 70 on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Jimmy Zheng put together a pair of solid rounds on Tuesday with a 74 and 72 to finish in a tie for 67th at 9-over 225. Graduate student
Qi wen Wong was tied for 73rd at 12-over 228.
Duke is back in action at the Watersound Intercollegiate Feb. 20-22 at the Shark's Tooth Course at the Watersound Club in Panama City Beach, Fla.
