LAST TIME OUT
Duke completed play at the final regular season tournament of the winter, as the Blue Devils finished ninth in a field of 29 teams at the Southern Scuffle, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Â
Redshirt senior
Josh Finesilver shined on the mats, taking home the title at 149 pounds in the prestigious event that featured wrestlers from eight ranked universities. Finesilver became just the second Blue Devil in program history to win a title at the Southern Scuffle, joining two-time winner
Jacob Kasper (2017 & 2018).
Â
Finesilver went 5-0 on the weekend, capping off his victory with an 11-10 win over 22nd-ranked Josh Edmond of Missouri. Finesilver went on to be named the ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week and PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
Â
His brother
Matt Finesilver also turned in a strong performance, going 4-2 overall and finishing in fifth place at 174 pounds. While his season-opening win streak of 20 matches came to an end, Finesilver capped off his stint in Chattanooga with a convincing 14-0 major decision over Iowa's Brennan Swafford.
