DURHAM – Duke rowing rising juniors
Megan Lee and
Morgan Linsley were each named to the Pocock All-America teams for the 2020-2021 season, the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Thursday.
Lee and Linsley become the 12th and 13th Blue Devils to earn All-America status. Duke has now netted a total of 17 All-America selections since 2001, including at least one selection in five of the last six seasons. Lee was one of 20 student-athletes named to the First Team, becoming the fourth first-team pick in program history, while Linsley picked up Honorable Mention accolades.
A native of Natick, Mass., Lee established herself as a key member of Duke's Varsity Eight lineup during her sophomore campaign. She competed in the V8 boat in eight races in the regular season, winning four while taking second in three. Lee was part of the V8 squad that earned ACC Crew of the Week after defeating No. 7 Michigan for the first time in program history at the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual on April 3. The V8 came through with a second-place result at the ACC Championship to secure Duke its third appearance at the NCAA Championships, where the Blue Devils' top boat finished fourth in the C Final.
Lee's efforts in the classroom this year were also recognized, as she was named a CRCA Scholar-Athlete while also earning a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team. She is one of two first-team All-Americans from the ACC this season, joining Virginia's Sophie Kershnerer.
Linsley rowed in the V8 lineup in each of the boat's 13 races in 2021, collecting six first-place finishes. She was twice named to the ACC Crew of the Week during the month of April – first after helping lead the V8 to a win at the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual, and again after edging out Clemson to give Duke a team victory at the Lake Wheeler Invitational. The Princeton, N.J., native sat in the five-seat in the V8's run at the NCAA Championships.
Lee and Linsley were named Duke's Co-Most Valuable Players at the team's awards banquet in May.
To meet the criteria for Pocock All-America selection, a student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution and have rowed in at least 75 percent of the season's races in the varsity boat. Boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements, and 2,000-meter erg scores are also considered.
