DURHAM, N.C. – After each were named a USTFCCCA First Team All-America for their performances at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships, four current Blue Devils will compete in the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials, June 18-27, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Brittany Aveni and
Cha'Mia Rothwell and seniors
Lauren Hoffman and
Erin Marsh will compete for a coveted spot on the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team. Aveni will compete in the 400m, Rothwell in the 100m hurdles, Hoffman in the 400m hurdles and Marsh will compete in the heptathlon.

Aveni will be the first to compete, with the first round of the 400m scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET., on Friday, June 18. The Geneva, Ohio, native had a spectacular run at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, helping the 4x400m relay team set a school record and finish seventh in the nation with a time of 3:28.27. Aveni took home three separate All-America honors in the 4x400m relay, 400m and 4x100m relay, becoming the first five-time All-American in Duke women's track & field history.

Rothwell will take the track at 8:04 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 19, hoping to build on her seventh-place finish in the 100m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Durham, N.C., native became a two-time All-American in Eugene, taking home USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors in the 100m hurdles and USTFCCCA All-America Second Team honors in the 4x100m relay. Rothwell's fastest time of the year in the 100m hurdles was 12.95 seconds and came at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., to break her own school record.

Should both Aveni and Rothwell advance out of the first round, Aveni would also compete in the semifinals on June 19 at 10:20 p.m. ET and the finals on Sunday, June 20 at 10:15 p.m. ET. Rothwell would compete again on Sunday, June 20 in the semifinals at 9:03 p.m. ET and the finals at 10:43 p.m. ET.

Next week, Hoffman will return to action in the first round of the 400m hurdles on Friday, June 25 at 6:35 p.m. ET. A school record holder in her own right, Hoffman looks to set a new best after earning her top mark of 56.98 seconds at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Should Hoffman advance, she would compete in the semifinals on Saturday, June 26 at 9:19 p.m. ET and the finals on Sunday, June 27 at 7:20 p.m. ET.

Marsh will be the final Blue Devil to compete as she opens the heptathlon with day one on Saturday, June 26 at 4:15 p.m. ET and day two on Sunday, June 27 at 4 p.m. ET. Marsh enters with the third best U.S. collegiate point total after setting a new school record of 5,924 points in her fourth-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Buford, Ga., native had a spectacular 2020-21 season, earning an NCAA Bronze Medal in the pentathlon at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships, USTFCCCA First All-America honors in the indoor and outdoor seasons and three ACC silvers among several awards.

Megan Clark is also set to compete in the pole vault, beginning with qualifying on Thursday, June 24 at 8 p.m. ET. Clark remains the program's school record holder, setting a mark of 4.63m (15-2.25 feet) in 2016. Duke signee
Paige Sommers is also competing in the pole vault, entering with a mark of 4.50m (14-9 feet), which is the national high school outdoor record.
