DURHAM, N.C. – Duke outfielder
RJ Schreck was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic All-Region Second Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association, the organization announced Wednesday.
Â
The Los Angeles, Calif., native burst onto the scene for Duke in 2021 while slashing .337/.435/.635 with 70 hits, 18 home runs and 52 RBIs which were all career highs. His 18 home runs tied Griffin Conine (2018) for the fourth-most in a single season in Duke history. Schreck teamed up with graduate student
Peter Matt to become just the second duo in Duke history to record 15+ home runs in a season.
Â
In addition to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors, Schreck was tabbed to the All-ACC Third Team and the Knoxville Regional All-Regional Team in the NCAA Championship. A graduate of Harvard-Westlake High School, Schreck became the first Blue Devil in five years to hit three home runs in a game, doing so against Wright State in the Knoxville Regional.
Â
Schreck is Duke's 10th student-athlete to earn All-Region honors and the second under head coach
Chris Pollard, joining
Ethan DeCaster who was named to the team in 2018.
Â
