DURHAM, N.C. – Five members of the Duke wrestling program are set to compete at the 2021 United World Wrestling Under-23 Nationals from May 27-29.

The event it set to take place at the Bob Devaney Center on the University of Nebraska campus in Lincoln, Neb.

Vincent Baker and
Jonah Niesenbaum as well as redshirt freshman
Brandon LaRue and freshman
Logan Agin.

Finesilver, Niesenbaum, LaRue and Agin will all compete in the freestyle tournament, while Baker participated in the Greco-Roman event.

Baker began the tournament Thursday, falling in a tight quarterfinal match, 2-1, to Tyler Hannah of Loras College. Baker, who competed in the 87kg class, attempted a late push but could not complete the comeback.
However, Baker recovered in the back-draw, taking third place. The Roswell, Ga., native cruised past Neil Antrassian by a final of 9-0 via technical fall and advanced to face Iowa's Ryan Schott. Baker earned another impressive 8-4 victory to advance to the consolation semifinals, where he would go on to earn a 5-1 win.
The victory set up Baker for a third-place bout with Hannah, who he had fallen to earlier in the day. This time, Baker was ready for Hannah, earning a gritty 7-4 victory and earning a third-place finish in the 87kg classification.

Finesilver will compete in the 70kg classification, while Niesenbaum, LaRue and Agin will participate in the 130kg, 70kg, and 58kg class, respectively.

Individuals born between the years of 1998-2003 are eligible to compete in the three-day event. The champions in men's freestyle and in Greco-Roman will qualify to represent USA Wrestling at the UWW U23 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, on November 1-7.
