DURHAM – Duke men's soccer freshman
Peter Stroud has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI First Team as announced by the organization recently. Stroud is one of four rookies from the ACC to earn mention on the Freshman Best XI teams.
This is the latest award for the rookie midfielder after he earned All-ACC third team honors in a vote of the league's coaches. He was one of three freshmen voted to an All-ACC squad and also earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team.
Stroud, Duke's engine to the offense, started all 17 games for the Blue Devils and dished out three assists on the year. The native of Chester, N.J., ranked second on the team in minutes played at 1,591.
Stroud posted his first career point, providing the assist on the Pariano's winning goal in the final seconds of the second overtime against NC State and added assists in wins over Virginia Tech and Virginia. Going the distance in 13 of the 17 games, he was ranked third among freshmen by Top Drawer Soccer at the end of the campaign.
A product of the New York Red Bulls Academy, Stroud is currently playing with the U23 squad in the USL2 league. He has played in one game, going the full 90. He is joined on the team by Duke teammates
Scotty Taylor and
Amir Daley.
