NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The Duke men's golf team makes the program's 26th appearance in the NCAA postseason when the Noblesville Regional begins Monday at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind.
The Blue Devils enter the regional as the No. 8-seed and are looking for a top-five finish in the 54-hole stroke play event that is set for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the par-72, 7,173-yard course to clinch a spot in next week's NCAA Championship field.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind., will host the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Noblesville Regional. It is one of six regional sites across the country with the top five teams from each regional, along with the highest finishing individual not associated with one of those teams, advancing to the NCAA Championships May 28 through June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
THE COURSE
The Sagamore Club is a par-72, 7,173-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature design located about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis. Opened in 2004, the course previously hosted an NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regional in 2015 with Illinois and SMU sharing the title. Now-major champion Bryson DeChambeau led SMU that year just weeks before winning the individual national championship. Sagamore was also the site of the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships.

Listed in order of seed: (1) Texas, (2) North Carolina, (3) Tennessee, (4) North Florida, (5) Louisville, (6) South Florida, (7) UAB, (8) Duke, (9) UNC Wilmington, (10) Arkansas State, (11) Campbell, (12) UT Martin, (13) Loyola Chicago.
In tournaments this season, Duke has faced five of the teams in the Noblesville Regional and is 4-7 combined versus those teams -- 1-2 vs. North Carolina, 0-2 vs. North Florida, 2-0 vs. Louisville, 0-2 vs. South Florida, 1-1 vs. Campbell.

DUKE IN THE NCAA REGIONALS
This season marks the Blue Devils' 26th team appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship. Duke has finished as the regional runner-up in three consecutive appearances and third-place or better in four of its last five: third-place finish in 2015 (Lubbock Regional), tied second in 2017 (Baton Rouge), second place in (2018) and second place in 2019 (Athens). The 2020 postseason was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Duke has advanced out of the Regional round 15 times. All time, the program has made 20 team appearances in the NCAA Championship round.

DUKE PLACES EIGHTH AT ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Freshman
Ian Siebers posted a top-10 finish to lead Duke at the 2021 ACC Championship at the Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Milton, Ga. As a team, the Blue Devils finished eighth in 54 holes of stroke play with a total score of 23-over 863.
After rounds of 66 and 69 on Friday, Siebers carded a 73 on Sunday to finish tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard, marking the best finish by a Duke freshman at the ACC Championship since
Brinson Paolini's tied-fourth in 2010.
Senior
Adrien Pendaries finished tied for 31st at 5-over 215 with rounds of 68, 71 and 76, while classmate
Qi wen Wong enjoyed a strong championship by finishing tied for 33rd and one stroke back of Pendaries, including a 72 on Sunday.
SIEBERS NAMED TO ALL-ACC TEAM
Siebers was named to the 2021 All-ACC Men's Golf Team, which was announced on May 10. Siebers is one of four freshmen on the list of 15 individuals to earn All-ACC recognition this season. A Bellevue, Wash., native, Siebers leads the Blue Devils in stroke average at 71.00, which is on pace to set the program's single-season freshman record. Siebers also tops Duke's charts this season in top-10 finishes (four), top-20 finishes (six), rounds of par of better (17), rounds under par (14) and rounds in the 60s (eight). Of his 24 rounds played this season, 23 have counted towards Duke's cause (96%).
He is just the sixth Duke freshman all-time to earn All-ACC honors, joining
Chandler Eaton (2017), Adam Long (2007), Matt Krauss (1999),
Jason Widener (1990) and Bob Stranger (1979).
SIEBERS CO-MEDALIST AT US OPEN LOCAL QUALIFIER
Siebers overcame tough scoring conditions and finished as one of three medalists at a local qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Open on April 27 at the Duke GC.
Siebers shot 1-under 71 on the Blue Devils' home course and was one of five golfers in the field of 78 to advance out of the local qualifying stage in the quest to play in the 121st U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif., June 17-20.
Those players who advance out of the 110 local qualifying sites will join a group of locally exempt players in final qualifying, which will be conducted over 36 holes at nine sites across the country in late May and early June.

DUKE MEN'S GOLF TEAM NOTES
- In an abbreviated season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blue Devils did not compete during the fall of 2020 and have logged nine tournaments since January.
- In the eight full-team events, Duke has finished in the top five four times, including a second-place showing at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course in early February.
- The Blue Devils finished the regular season at the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs GC in Cary, N.C., shooting 23-under as a team and finishing sixth overall.
- Freshman Ian Siebers had a record-setting tournament at the Stitch, logging the lowest 54-hole score by a freshman in Duke history of 13-under 203. He closed with consecutive rounds of 6-under 66 – tied for the third lowest single-rounds to par by a Duke freshman all time.
- Siebers current scoring average of 71.00 stands as the lowest by a Duke freshman in history. Current senior Adrien Pendaries holds the current Duke freshman scoring record of 72.15 in 2018.
- Jimmy Zheng's current scoring average of 72.65 stands as the fourth best all-time by a Duke freshman.
- Zheng became just the fifth Duke men's golfer since at least 2009 to record a hole-in-one when he aced the par-3 14th hole at the Camp Creek GC earlier this season. It was Duke's first hole-in-one on record since Alex Matlari's at the 2016 Hootie Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay.
- Pendaries and Evan Katz are current third and seventh, respectively, on Duke's career scoring average list. Pendaries has played to a 71.72 average in his career, while Katz has posted a 72.65.
- Pendaries is also fourth all-time at Duke in rounds in the 60s (34), seventh in rounds under par (45) and ninth in rounds of par or better (54).
- Pendaries' 54-hole of score of 16-under 200 at the 2019 Clemson Invitational at the Cliffs of Keowee Falls stands as tied for the best 54-hole score to par in team history.
- Pendaries has finished in the top 30 in each of his two career starts in an NCAA Regional, finishing tied for 13th (-5, 207) in the 2018 Raleigh Regional and tied for 28th (+6, 219) at the 2019 Athens Regional.
- Duke's current team scoring average of 287.88 stands as the sixth best in program history. The 2018-19 club set the program record at 283.74.
- Head Coach Jamie Green, who assumed the reigns of the Duke program in the spring of 2009 has presided over 19 team titles, including ACC crowns in 2013 and 2017.
- Green's teams have recorded the top seven spots on Duke's all-time list of lowest team scoring averages.
BIRDIES FOR BABIES PASSES $60,000-MARK
Spearheaded four years ago by Duke women's golfer Virginia Elena Carta, the Duke men's and women's golf programs have continued their fundraising program benefitting the Duke Children's Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units called Birdies for Babies. Duke has raised $13,365 this season to total $60,667 in four years.
