DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team (9-9, 7-6 ACC) is set for a pair of ACC road contests this weekend in Syracuse, N.Y. The Blue Devils will take on Wake Forest (0-12, 0-11 ACC) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. before a 1 p.m. showing against Syracuse (5-7, 5-7 ACC) on Sunday. Both matches will be broadcast on ACCNX.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke went 1-2 over the weekend in its last home contests of the spring. The Blue Devils dropped a 3-2
decision to Miami and No. 19 Pittsburgh before sweeping Boston College on Monday in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
In the last three matches, setter
Alex Springate dished a combined 113 assists (37.67 assists/match) while outside hitter
Payton Schwantz reached the 1,000-kill plateau against Boston College.
Behind a season-high team .386 hitting percentage, Schwantz tallied 10 kills and no errors for a whopping .556 hitting percentage against the Eagles as she became the 26th Blue Devil to reach the milestone. Schwantz now owns 1,009 kills.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
Wake Forest: Duke leads the all-time series, 57-18, against the Demon Deacons and have won two in a row. Most recently in 2019, the Blue Devils secured a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-17, 25-22) in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Syracuse: Sunday marks the 11th meeting between the two squads as Duke holds a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series. In 2019 in Syracuse, Duke outlasted the Orange, 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 17-15).
SCOUTING OUR OPPONENTS
Wake Forest: Wake Forest enters the weekend 0-12 and 0-11 in conference play and most recently dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 18 Notre Dame. They are led by Caroline Kuhn and Ashley Slater with 111 and 97 kills, respectively, while setter Madeline Holt has dished 268 assists.
Syracuse: The Orange are 5-7 this season and have dropped two straight matches: 3-0 vs. Wake Forest and 3-2 vs. Virginia Tech. Syracuse is led offensively by Ella Saada with 98 kills while Lauren Hogan has 220 total digs. Syracuse is fourth in the conference with 107.5 blocks and is third in digs (687).

Camille Nazor. Springate has dished an impressive 440 assists for a 6.57 assist/set average while Nazor has 161 to her name.
This spring, Springate is averaging 27.2 assists/match. Over the weekend, Springate tallied 40 assists versus Miami and 46 against Pittsburgh.
SCHWANTZ JOINS 1,000-KILL CLUB
Senior outside hitter
Payton Schwantz became the 26th Blue Devil in program history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau against Boston College on March 22 with 11 kills and a whopping .556 hitting percentage. Schwantz now owns 1,009 career kills.
